SREE PAZHAYEDATH SIVA TEMPLE

Sree Pazhayedath Siva Temple, situated in the locality of Thekkan kuttur in Thalakkad Panchayath of Tirur Taluk , Malapuram District , Kerala, is renowned for its great ancestry and historical prominence. The temple which is over 1500 years old , had a bright and affluent past. During the beginning period , the temple had been managed and governed directly by payyoor Mana. By time ,temple rituals and observances were interrupted due to many reasons and unfortunately remained closed for years even with out " Nithya Poojas " (Daily homage Offered to the deity). On 17th October , 1993 the Manas handed over the temple to the people of the region where it exists and a committee named "Sree Pazhayedath Kshethra Samrakshna Samithi " was formed for the protection and smooth functioning of the temple. As a result of the incessant and intense endevour of the committee , both the temple and the region attained progress and prosperity. As Per the findings of a " Deva Prashna " held at the temple in 2001 , temples were constructed for the sub-deities of the Ganapathi , Bhagavathi and Sasthav and idolised ( inducted ) them with due devotion and rituals.

HISTORY

The devotees and the temple committee together strive sincerely to recover the past glory of the temple . Upon the interest of the pious people , a " deva prashnam " had been performed on May ,2010 . It was released then that a " Naveekarana Kalasham " was taken place sixty years before . It was also suggested that an urgent " Naveekarana Kalasham " should be done . Almost all parts of the temple needed renovation and the damaged idols should be replaced and inducted properly .

As a first step of renovation , the famous architect Sri Kanippayur Kuttan Namboothirippadu inspected the areas concerned and made necessary suggestions , on the basis of the plan and estimated prepared by him , it is expected around Rs. 20 lakhs for the renovation process.
